
The Paediatric First Aid course is ideal for businesses which involve childcare in some capacity, though is open to anyone wanting to learn how to give First Aid to infants in any other setting.
This course meets the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). It will give you and your staff the knowledge and certification to provide First Aid care to children and infants.
This course is split into two days.
Upon completion of the first part, you will be able to:
- Understand the role and responsibilities of the paediatric First Aider
- Assess an emergency situation safely
- Provide First Aid to an infant/child who is unresponsive and breathing normally
- Provide First Aid to an infant/child who is unresponsive and not breathing normally
- Provide First Aid to infant/child who has a foreign body airway obstruction
- Provide First Aid to an infant/child with external bleeding
- Understand how to provide First Aid to an infant/child who is suffering from shock
- Understand how to provide First Aid to an infant/child with anaphylaxis
The second part of the qualification will give you the ability to:
- Administer First Aid to an infant/child with injuries to bones, joints and muscles
- Administer First Aid to an infant/child with head and spinal injuries
- Understand how to administer First Aid to an infant/child with conditions affecting the eyes, ears
- and nose
- Administer emergency First Aid to an infant/child with a chronic medical condition or sudden illness
- Administer First Aid to an infant/child who is experiencing the effects of extreme heat or cold
- Administer First Aid to an infant/child who has sustained an electric shock
- Administer First Aid to an infant/child with burns or scalds
- Administer First Aid to an infant/child who has been poisoned
- Administer First Aid to an infant/child who has been bitten or stung
- Administer First Aid to an infant/child with minor injuries
- Complete records relating to illnesses, injuries and emergencies
